7 Things Someone Should Have Told Us.

Remember when we were kids?
How we used to talk about how we’d grow up, go to college, get a great job, marry someone beautiful and be happy?

Someone should have told us, you know.
That the world is not
all that it seems to be and we should not hope for too much.

Someone should have told us, that the university is not where we have imagined it to be. That some of us may never go there and that many of those of us who do might come back, disillusioned.

Someone should have told us that sometimes, our lives are not even ours to live. That our dreams, hopes and aspirations may be continually thrown overboard by things we can’t help or change.

Someone should have at least shown us, that there are very limited career choices. That the only good things you can be is a doctor, a lawyer, an engineer, an accountant, an architect or a disgrace. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Someone should have told us that wr may never find the love we crave. That it is either you love someone who doesn’t love you back or you’re loved by someone you can’t have higher feelings for. That the kind of love you see on Disney Channel does not exist in the real world. That we may never know which is worse: to be broken or to break another person.

Someone should have told us to dream with caution. That people can get broken and like broken china ware, never get fixed. That we will meet certain people we’d wish we’d met earlier.

Someone should have at least told us, that people will not always stay and things will not always be the way we want them, and that it is okay. That what the mind knows and what the heart wants are two separate things.

Do you remember when we were young?
Do you remember who we were before the world told us who we should be?

Remember when we were kids?
Yeah, me too.

  1. Could it be that somebody may have told us but we were, you know, young and idealistic never recognised how true those words may be?

  2. Someone should have told us that identity crisis was bound to come at one point of our lives. At least we would have deligently prepared and await its coming.
